Home page options
- Disable thumbnails on homepage,
SWIFT downloads the first image in your post and saves it to wp-content/swift_uploads folder in case if it’s from other host and use it for generating thumbnails. A feature thats not present in any premium themes.
Note:Use this feature with caution. If you are hotlinking copyrighted images in your post, they might be downloaded on to your server and that may get you in to copyright troubles (Though it is very rare). To avoid such problems specify a different image in custom fields with key “image” when ever you are posting copyrighted images.
- Display excerpts on homepage, check this box if you want to display only first few lines of your post on home page. Disabled by default.
- ENABLE popular posts on homepage/Number of Popular posts, If enabled displays your popular posts excerpts on home page. Good option to promote your popular posts and give them more exposure. Do not use this option.
- Featured Category/Number of Featured Posts: Select the category of posts to be displayed in content slider, displays 3 of your recent posts if no options are selected. Featured posts will automatically be removed from WordPress main page loop, thus avoiding duplicate content problem.
Update: In version 3.1.1 I added the option to specify thumbnail url in custom fields. To use this feature, simply start making a New Post, and scroll down the page until you see “Advanced Options“. Under this heading, you should see something like, Excerpt, Trackback, and Custom Fields.
To add a Custom Field for a Thumbnail, just fill in the Key with “image”. For the Value, post the full URL of the thumbnail you would like to use.
Click Add Custom Field, and it will apply to that post.
Here is the precedence order: Custom image >Image from gallery >first image in post.
