Timthumb is an image resizing script used to dynamically resize images. It’s a very useful script but has some performance issues on low powered servers and setup issues for newbies. With this version we are saying goodbye to timthumb script and using the post thumbnail functionality that comes bundled with wordpress.
Apart from the changes to the image resizing script, there are several improvements and changes to the theme.
- Changed the default typography of the theme.
- Included the jQuery masonry script, making the magazine layouts more flexible. Thanks to Edward for suggesting the script.
- Changed the styling of the magazine boxes.
- Changed the script used for tabber widget, and improved it’s styling. It’s more usable than before. Tab changes on mouse hover, saving your users an extra click.
- Changed the thumbnail styling in blog layout.
- Fixed the bug related to fonts resizing when options are saved in browsers other than firefox.
- Added a warning message when you click the reset button.
How to move upgrade to SWIFT version 5.70
Upgrading to version 5.70 is same as before, and it’s explained here.
Currently there are no plugins to import the post thumbnails setup through custom fields to wordpress post thumbnails, so you have to set up the thumbnails manually.
First upgrade to the latest version of the theme as described here, and then edit each post on your blog and setup the featured image.
Update: Use the auto thumbnail plugin to set the featured image for all posts, and then change the ones it set wrongly.
After you have set up the thumbnails, install the ajax thumbnail rebuild plugin, and run it once to regenerate the thumbnails.
I get an error in the pagenavi:

You can help me fix bug?
if I understand correctly, the only way to keep my post related thumbnails on the upgrade is to edit all my posts manually. That is insane. Who has time for such things?
Hopefully i have misread the information.
A sub website i’m working on.. Just put 5.7 on it.. and I already hate this Thumbnail image feature crap.
what exactly do you hate about it?
Would it be hard to publish some code that sets the first image as featured for my 10.000+ posts? (e.g. code here: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/1940/extract-display-the-real-first-image-attached-to-a-post-extend-the-post-thumb) ?
Ah well… If someone likes “backward compatibility” so not the need to set each featured image manually, here is how it can be done: http://wp.leau.co/2010/12/01/featured-images/
Nice one! I’m going to download it in a second and will play with it 🙂 p.s. I came across: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/4563/add-image-size-for-specific-post-types , maybe that is interesting.
Nice updates, Swift themes had earlier been criticized for typography but now in this version, I hope it has been fixed. I’ll try it on my blog..
