3 Column layout for area beneath tabbed posts in newspaper layout

In the Newspaper Layout, I notice that the area below the tabbed posts section leaves a large white space on the right. I think this area might look better as a three-column layout instead of the current two-column layout. A 3 column layout would get rid of the unused white space on the right.

Alternatively, that empty white space could be used for a vertical skyscraper-style ad.
