Thread: v 6.0; photos, excerpts, corners

  1. #1

    v 6.0; photos, excerpts, corners

I spent the day transferring my site to the newest version, and it works quite smooth.

Unavoidably, I have run into a coupe of issues, namely:

    1) In my past 300+ posts I deliberately posted a too big photo, because it resized itself to the post once published.

Often I published a photo 960 px wide in my posts, because it the adjusted itself to the full screen slider.

Now, all the photos in my past 300+ posts will be too large, and expand "under" the sidebars. Example:

    http://inbeijing.se/images/largephoto.jpg

Is there any way to resize all those photos so they can fit into the posts again?

    2) I would like to include excerpts of the posts in my slider even below the slider (magazine view).

This was made easily in the past version by ticking a box. Can't find that box now.

    3) Where are the rounded corners?

    4) How many pixels are the new slider? Wide and height? The full slider was 960 wide, can't find any size for this one.

    5) In the menus, it seems to be impossible to alter the colors away from the normal font colors.

In the past, I had black menus, both links and visited links. Now the menu text seems to must be either red or black depending on wether the user visit this site, rather than black all the time, which looks better in my opinion.

    6) How do I actually adjust the size of the sidebars? Random seems to be one slightly wider than the other, which was not the case in the last version.

I will post again if I run into something else.

    Cheers

    1. Give me a link to the post with problem
    2. I would like to include excerpts of the posts in my slider even below the slider (magazine view).

This was made easily in the past version by ticking a box. Can't find that box now.

Bold excerpts wont look good on content width slider, if you want to add them anyway, I will include that option in two days.

    3) Where are the rounded corners?

Navigation? They were removed in premium. If you want the old navigation style
    follow this tutorial
How to get the old navigation style in SwiftPremium

    4) How many pixels are the new slider? Wide and height? The full slider was 960 wide, can't find any size for this one.

Depends on the content width, Width of "content width slider" is 62% of your site width - 20, width of full width slider is equal to site width - 20

width to height ratio is 1.62

    5) In the menus, it seems to be impossible to alter the colors away from the normal font colors.

Thats a bug, will take care of it.

    6) How do I actually adjust the size of the sidebars? Random seems to be one slightly wider than the other, which was not the case in the last version.

    Screenshot please.

    Some suggestions

    1. Make the nav border and background slightly darker than the header
    2. Use widget without padding for twitter widget
    3. You forgot to setup footer links.

    Re

    1) It's in about every post. For example:

    2) Maybe you misunderstood me. I do not want to add excerpts in the slider itself, but I want to include excerpts below the slider, of the posts that are also featured in the slider.

As it is now, if I have three posts in the slider, they will not appear under the slider with information about author, tags, date and so on.

    3) I meant rounded corners for the widgets in the sidebars.

    4) Thanks.

    5) Thanks.

    6) You can see it by visiting the site: InBeijing Bulletin - håll koll på Kina

Of the widgets in the sidebars to the right, widgets to the left takes up about 2/3 of the space, and the ones to the right side just 1/3.

I would like the to be equally big.

    Cheers

    1. Disable get social plugin and check.
    2. I will add that option
    3. add this to user CSS
    .widget{-moz-border-radius: 5px;
    border-radius: 5px;overflow:hidden}
    6. They are in golden ratio

If you want to break the ratio, add this to user CSS
    #sb1,#sb2{width:50%}

    1) Photos are still big size with Get Social disabled.

    2) Thanks

    3) I added both and it won't work, neither of them. I added them together, separately with and without breaking row.

Yes, I did it in Swift design options, and the box for CSS is ticked.

    6) Didn't work (see above)

    Cheers

    3. You dint add the code for rounded corners.

  7. #7

I did add the code but I took it away again since it didn't work.

It's now inserted again but there are no round corners still.

I deactivated all plugins but the photo was still big size.

I'll send you my wp-admin right away.

You should clear your browser cache.

There is a bug in image resizing, uploaded rc16 to members area, use it.

My pictures works fine now, I assume you did the update for me?!

While I have you on the line, can I please bother you with two more quick questions?

    1) How on earth do I set up a wide footer area in the very bottom? Including categories, links etc. I have been looking in the forums and on the site alike, but can't just get it, not even where to begin.

    2) I would like to change the font face of my site, but not the font size. Is there any way to do that, or do I have to determine the font size again? If so, what are the randoms for text, headlines etc.

    Cheers

    1. Add footer widgets

    2. body{font-family:arial}

or set the body font options to

    font-size:16px; line-height: 1.625em
