SWIFT is compatible with WordPress 3.0

The much awaited WordPress 3.0 was out yesterday. I have been using RC’s ( Release candidates ) for the development of SWIFT since version 5.25, SWIFT is compatible with WordPress 3.0. There are no known issues, if you find any please post them on the forum.

There were some bugs in v5.28 of SWIFT like

Problem with subscribe widget.
Problem with banner ads widget.
Bug in links appended to the navigation bar.

And the following error, result of accidentally deleting some files and missing file extensions.

all of them are cleared in v5.29. You can download it from the downloads page.

I will be releasing the first ever child theme of SWIFT some time this week, here is a screen shot of it. Feedback appreciated.

Suggest default thumbnail image and social media icons for SWIFT v5.0

Default Thumbnail Image

I selected the color pencils as default thumbnail image in a hurry, It’s time to have a better image which will be apt for all types of posts. v5.0 will be having an image selected Swiftler’s.

Post url’s to the images which can be used as the default thumbnails, once we have enough entries I will pick five from them and then have a poll to select one from them.

You can suggest photographs taken by you.
Your graphic work (You can create one exclusively for SWIFT if you have time) or
Any image that you think will be suitable as default thumbnail for SWIFT.

Before you post, please make sure that they are not copyrighted and free.

Social Media Icons

Using a plugin for social bookmarking sites can make your site heavy. So I’m including that option in SWIFT, so that you don’t have to use a extra plugin.

Suggest a Icon set to be used for the built in social bookmarking option. I prefer hand drawn icons.
Please post the url to icon set of your choice in the comments.

As you can see in the image below, there is room for only 8 icons. Select the 8 bookmarking sites to be used in SWIFT by default. (Maximum of 8 choices are allowed)

Author info box

This is how the author info will be shown in v5.0, if you have any suggestions please post them in comments.

You will have option to disable each section if you don’t want to show related posts or author info or social bookmarking icons.

[Help] Design a logo and mascot for SWIFT and Swiftlers

Hello Swiftlers,
I started working on v5.0, there are going to be lot of features than you can imagine. I would like to release it with a new logo and a mascot for Swiftlers. I need your help with some graphics and logo. I would appreciate if you can spare some time.

What you will get in return?

If your logo is selected you will get a back link from v5.0 release post and the credits page, apart from the back link you can choose anyone of the following.

Customization of SWIFT on one of your blog or
20$ in cash via paypal.

I know 20$ is very less for what I’m asking but, that is what I can afford at the moment.

Here are what I’m looking for

Logo

I want the logo to be simple, memorable,versatile and appropriate.

Any colour scheme of your choice, I will build the theme based on the logo
Soft colours with clean and simple look
Ideal aspect ratio 4:1
Easily describable, like the clock in the current logo represent the quick load time of SWIFT theme
It should be memorable
It should be effective in black and grey scale only
It should be scalable, so that it can be used any where

Here are some resources on how to design good logos.

Simple and Memorable, I'm not sure how it looks on a different background and in grayscale.

Though the aspect ratio doesnt match my requirements, we can position the text next to the circle.

Meets all the above said requirements.

Versatile, text can be positioned next to image.

Very simple and memorable.

Don't know what it means, I just like it.

Mascot

I need a mascot representing Swiftlers. I don’t have clear idea of what exactly I need at the moment. May be we can have something like the woo ninja. If you have a good idea pleases post in comments.

If you are not a designer but have some good idea for the logo, please feel to share it.
